here we will discuss here about Classify the following as amorphous or crystalline solids: Polyurethane naphthalene, benzoic acid, Teflon, potassium nitrate, cellophane, polyvinyl chloride, fibre glass, copper.

as we know that amorphous solids and crystalline solids are different from each other on the basis of several properties like cleavage property, melting point, shape of solids and particles , anisotropy etc.

Difference between Crystalline and Amorphous solids given below
CRYSTALLINE SOLIDS AMORPHOUS SOLIDS
Atoms are arranged in regular 3 dimension , it means they have

regular arrangements of constituent particles like atoms , molecules

They do not have regular arrangement , it means in AMORPHOUS SOLIDS the constituent particles are not arranged in fixed positions.
Sharp melting point , or we can say that they have fixed melting point. No particular melting point , the meting points of such solids is not fixed or it can vary on different types of solids.
Anisotropic , not uniformed in solid but can be seen in particular line. Isotropic , it means the particles are uniformed in solid.
True solid Pseudo solid
Symmetrical Unsymmetrical
More rigid Less rigid
Long range order , they have similarity of particles in same line for a long order. Short range order , same particles or arrangements of particles in same order can be seen in some short order.
Example of CRYSTALLINE SOLIDS : Potassium nitrate, copper Examples of AMORPHOUS SOLIDS : Cellophane, polyvinyl chloride

now come to our question – the classification of the following as amorphous or crystalline solids is given below –
