write note what is Electric current , definition , formula : The motion rate of electric charge through a cross section area is called Electric current .
In other words we can define it
The electric charge flowing through a conductor per second is called Electric current .
Let us suppose dQ charge is flowing across a cross sectional area in dt time than the formula of Electric current (I) is given as
I = total charge transferred in total given time / Total time
I = dQ/dt
As we know that the unit of charge is coulomb and unit of time is second , so the unit of current will be
unit of Electric current (I) = coulomb/second
coulomb/second unit of current is seldom used so we use another unit “ampere” by replacing it.
