correct answer :

explanation of correct answer :

Total number of students (Total outcomes) = 23

Students from A house = 4

Students from B house = 8

Students from C house = 5

Students from D house = 2

Students from E house = 23 – (4+8+5+2) = 4

Students must not be selected from A , B , C means the student from D , E

Total D and E students (Favourable outcomes) = 2 + 4 = 6

as we know the formula of Probability –

Probability = Favourable outcomes/ Total outcomes

Probability that the selected student is not from A, B and C  means the Probability that the selected student is from D and E

Probability = Favourable outcomes/ Total outcomes

Probability = 6/23

means the Probability that the selected student is not from A, B and C is 6/23. that is why we have marked b option as our correct answer.
